Help Pawpaw See Clearly: East of Eden Rescue Joins 209Gives 2026 on May 19
May 18, 2026
Every gift makes a difference — and this May 19, you have the chance to make one that truly changes a life. East of Eden Rescue is proud to participate in the 209Gives 2026 online fundraiser, and this year we are rallying our Tracy, Central Valley, and East Bay community around one very special dog: Pawpaw.
Meet Pawpaw
Pawpaw is one of those dogs who reminds you exactly why rescue work matters. Gentle, expressive, and full of personality — he has captured the hearts of everyone at EOE. But right now, Pawpaw is dealing with a painful condition called cherry eye, a prolapsed gland in one or both eyes that causes chronic irritation and, left untreated, can lead to permanent damage and vision loss.
The surgery to correct it is straightforward — but at an estimated $2,500, it is out of reach without community support. That is where you come in.
What is 209Gives?
209Gives is an annual online giving event celebrating the generosity of the 209 community — Tracy, Stockton, Modesto, and the greater Central Valley. On May 19, 2026, donors across the region come together to support local nonprofits in a single day of giving. Every dollar donated through the 209Gives platform goes directly to the organization you choose — and this year, we are asking you to choose Pawpaw.
Your donation funds more than one surgery
East of Eden Rescue operates entirely on donations and community support. We take in the animals others turn away — the ones who need training, medical care, and time before they are ready for their forever home. Pawpaw’s cherry eye surgery is our 2026 focus, but every gift beyond our goal goes directly toward the animals currently in our care across Tracy and the Central Valley.
Whether you give $10 or $250, you are part of the story. You are the reason animals like Pawpaw get a second chance.
